These are GUIDELINES. Things that should be followed, but that are not concrete rules.
1. Keep religious and political comments/discussions to a minimum.
I respect that these issues are very important to many people, but to ensure that everyone here is comfortable; please keep this discussions to a minimum. Also, a group/forum about canids doesn't have anything to do with abortion, religion, Democrats VS Republicans, or ANY religious/political issue. The only politics to be discussed are legislations/government actions that directly relate to canids.
2. Keep discussions about the ethics of hunting to a minimum.
We may discuss say, illegal poaching of endangered species; and we readily acknowledge the wrongness of this. However, this is not the place to go off on rants about how anyone who hunts is a murderer, or how all hunting is evil. We don't need any bashing of hunters/hunting. If there is a certain RELEVANT aspect of hunting that you would like to discuss, you may do so; but please keep an OPEN MIND and don't go off about how all hunting is terrible. To ensure this, please keep discussions regarding the ethics of hunting to a minimum.
3. Keep discussions regarding the ethics of captivity to a minimum.
As I stated in the rules, anti-zoo comments/discussions are not welcome here. That being said, please keep discussions regarding ethics of captivity to a minimum. We may discuss situations where captive canids are cared for poorly, but this is by no means an excuse to condemn ALL captivity. Keeping discussions about the ethics of captivity to a minimum is a very good idea.
4. Keep discussions regarding the ethics of exotic pet ownership to a minimum.
Please, do not bash exotic pet owners. We may discuss situations where exotic canids should not be kept as pets, but please do not use this as an excuse to rant on about how all exotic pet ownership is stupid or inhumane. Please keep discussions regarding the ethics of exotic pet ownership to a minimum.
For 2-4, you may certainly DISCUSS these topics; just keep discussions regarding their ETHICS to a minimum. Thank you!
